This photo essay of Shrines, Altars, Spirit Houses and Pondok Datuk Keramat (Huts of Honorific Dieties) briefly explores the evolving identity that represents the many local guardian gods, dieties and spirits worshipped in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, Loas, Vietnam, Myanmar the India Subcontinent, and the Oriental Subcontinent. They act as a suppliment to the mainstream religions of Islam, Buddhism, Taoism, Hinduism, etc.
